Clinique La Prairie to debut in China in 2023 as part of global rollout strategy
– Simone Gibertoni
Swiss health and medical spa operator Clinique La Prairie (CLP) is planning to open a health resort in Anji, China, in partnership with Sunjoy Group.
Scheduled to open in 2023, the 12,850sq m resort will be equipped with the latest medical and wellness technologies and deliver a range of Longevity, Master Detox, Beauty, Weight Management and Wellness programmes.
Lasting up to a week, programmes will be guided by the CLP Longevity Method based on a four-pillar philosophy which combines evidence-based medicine with wellbeing, nutrition and movement plans.
The upcoming resort marks both the brand’s first international health resort outside of Switzerland and its debut in China.
Alongside CLP’s flagship in Montreux, Switzerland, its portfolio includes urban clinics – named Longevity Hubs – in Madrid, Bangkok and another location soon to launch in Doha at The St.Regis Marsa Arabia Island.
Simone Gibertoni, CEO of CLP, says: “We’re proud to continue our international expansion, reflecting demand from our clients for science-led health and wellbeing closer to home.
“Our new resort in Anji will be equipped with the very best experts and services, set in the perfect location for our guests to experience tranquillity. We look forward to welcoming guests to this sophisticated, private and comfortable environment to enjoy the unique CLP experience in a new destination.”
The new CLP Health Resort will be situated around 180km from Shanghai West in a secluded nature haven with views of mountain ranges, lakes and lush hillside tea farms. The resort will feature 29 rooms and suites, spread across seven villas.
The complex will be anchored by a central medical wellness facility incorporating four areas dedicated to each pillar of longevity, as well as master class lounges and a restaurant.
Design for the new resort incorporates sustainable materials and renewable energy sources in order to maintain high standards in ecosystem protection, health and contemporary luxury design.
Marc Sabatin, currently general director of wellness and hospitality at CLP Montreux, is joining the pre-opening team this quarter and has been appointed general manager of the new Anji health resort.
Michael Zhu, chair of Sunjoy Group, says: “We’re excited about the opportunity to partner with CLP for its first international health resort.
“Guests will have access to a state-of-the-art facility in China offering exclusive programmes and holistic wellness that have been the foundations of CLP for 91 years. We’re very confident we'll offer an unmatched experience in China.”
