Peninsula Hot Springs (PHS) in Victoria, Australia, has unveiled a new overnight bathing experience drawing on the benefits of hydrotherapy, nature immersion and social wellness rituals.

Costing AUS$65 (€41, US$47, £35) per person, the package invites guests booked into PHS accommodation to enjoy a social moonlit bathing experience with friends or family between the hours of 11pm-5am.

"Midnight Bathing was introduced to provide our overnight guests with the opportunity to bathe under the Southern stars and also to offer the relaxing gift of hot springs bathing to guests who are shift workers or insomniacs," explained Charles Davidson, PHS founder and creative director.

He revealed that the package has proven popular with couples looking for a relaxing opportunity to experience something completely different.

Created for guests over 18 years of age, Midnight Bathing is available seven-nights-a-week thanks to PHS' 24-hour operation.

Davidson added: "Since we launched Moonlit Bathing, we've received on average about 30-40 bathing guests a night and our accommodation has been trading at 95 per cent occupancy (on days we're open – COVID has closed us for about 5 months in 2021).

"Operating 24-hours-a-day has its challenges, but once the operational routines were in-place it has been relatively smooth.

"One lesson we learnt was to only allow guests in who have pre-booked online to avoid the issues of groups of people visiting at the last minute looking for an after-party location.

"From a financial perspective, it has more than covered its cost and has also enhanced the accommodation offering which is contributing to the strength of its performance."

The package is available at the location’s outdoor hot pools, which find their home within the adult-only Spa Dreaming Centre.

This facility is also complete with a day spa, cold plunge pool, sauna, hammam, barrel baths, Shirodhara water meditation and foot baths, as well as a lounge and cafe.

Guests can enhance their soaking experience with a selection of beverages from the refreshment menu.

PHS has previously run other distinctive social bathing experiences, such as open-air movie evenings where guests relax in the location’s hot pools while watching films on a large outdoor cinema screen.
