Gardens by the Bay becomes Singapore's latest attraction

Image: The gardens are Singapore's latest attraction

Gardens by the Bay has officially opened today (29 June) to become Singapore's newest tourist attraction, while also forming a key part of the city's wider City in a Garden vision.

UK-based Wilkinson Eyre Architects has worked with Grant Associates, Atelier One, Land Design Studio and Atelier Ten on the 101-hectare (249-acre) first phase of the project.

The gardens' main features include the 'Supertrees' measuring between 25m and 50m (82ft and 164ft) in height; two of which are connected by a 128m (420ft) public walkway above the ground.

Visitors will also be able to experience the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest conservatories; the Heritage Gardens; The World of Plants; and the Dragonfly and Kingfisher Lakes.

The attraction also offers a range of eateries, including the Pollen restaurant in the Flower Dome - inspired by a Mediterranean coastal setting and set over two floors.

Once fully complete, Gardens by the Bay will comprise three areas.
