Avani Hotels' new wellness concept draws on Traditional Thai Medicine and seeks to inspire “adventurous approach to wellbeing”
– Sandie Johannessen
Minor Hotels has introduced AvaniWell, a fresh new wellness concept for its upscale lifestyle brand Avani Hotels & Resorts.
AvaniWell offers guests a personalised path to wellbeing, combining traditional and modern wellness practices guided by a team of specialists.
Sandie Johannessen, Minor Hotels' group director of spa and wellness – Asia, explained: "AvaniWell provides a stepping stone for those starting their wellness journey, taking the brand’s Millennial and GenZ audience from the familiarity of the spa to a more personalised and adventurous approach to wellbeing."
The first AvaniWell wellbeing clinic was recently launched at the Avani+ Hua Hin Resort in Thailand.
Minor Hotels told Spa Business it is open to expanding AvaniWell where there is market demand, though no further destinations are currently planned.
AvaniSpa, the original spa concept by Avani, already boasts 23 outposts across Asia, Europe, North America and Africa.
Tradition meets modernity
Avani's latest wellness concept integrates holistic spa therapies, Traditional Thai Medicine (TTM), nutrition, fitness, medical-grade diagnostics and modern wellness interventions to help guests develop healthy habits.
TTM is an ancient system of spiritual healing that uses astrology and numerology to identify and cure health conditions.
Guests at Avani+ Hua Hin can now tap AvaniWell’s resident TTM specialists for one-to-one assessments and recommendations on signature treatments.
These include “Pao Ya Fire Rebalance” to alleviate bloating by placing heated herbal bundles on the stomach and “Chae Ya Power Baths” infused with medicinal herbs to relieve tension and cure skin irritations. There is also a focus on Salt Pot Healing, which is claimed to release tension throughout the body using hot salt compresses and aromatic oils.
In addition, guests can experience traditional Middle Eastern wellbeing practices at the dedicated hammam.
In a nod to the spa’s coastal setting, AvaniWell Hua Hin also offers coastal-inspired treatments such as the Salt Scrub Journey, Sand Compress and Seashell Symphony Massage, as well as JetPro x Renewal Complex 4 facials, Elemis facials and semi-invasive aesthetic protocols.
Modern treatments include IV therapy with NAD+ anti-ageing, immune support and hangover cure vitamin drips, available in-room or as express 20-minute options.
Leading a well lifeTo boost the wellbeing programme, AvaniWell’s team of physiotherapists help restore movement and function, while accredited Pilates instructors offer private Reformer Pilates sessions to improve posture, flexibility and alignment.
Sessions are complemented by hospital-grade body composition scans to interpret body fat and muscle mass percentages for science-driven results.
Nutrition
The AvaniWell concept extends beyond the walls of the clinic with healthy menus, diet workshops and mixology classes at the resort.
Plus, The Pantry, Avani’s grab-and-go dining concept, offers post-workout protein shakes, kombuchas and smoothies for guests using the AvaniFit gym or the resort’s swimming pools.
About Avani Hotels & ResortsLaunched in 2011 and now with over 40 properties across five continents, Avani offers city hotels, tropical resorts and retreats in nature with a focus on smart design, upbeat service and good value.
