Banyan Tree opening resorts in Morocco and China

by Jane Kitchen | 28 Jul 2016

Banyan Tree is set to open its first property in Morocco in September, and will also open a property in China in Q3 2016.

The Banyan Tree Tamouda Bay in Morocco will feature 92 pool villas as well as a spa with six Deluxe Treatment Rooms and two Royal Treatment Rooms. It will use Banyan Tree’s Asian-inspired spa tradition, with a “high-touch, low-tech” approach, and will also include a hydro and vitality pool, hammam and yoga room.

The villas at the hotel will pay homage to the architecture of the region, and each will include a lush garden and private pool. Other activities include scuba diving, wakeboarding, jet-skiing and hiking in the Rif Mountains.

The 209-bedroom Banyan Tree Jiuzhaigou, which takes its name from nine Tibetan villages along its border, is located near Jiuzhaigou National Park, a Unesco World Heritage Site that features a landscape of pools, waterfalls and limestone terraces, and which is home to rare and endangered species such as the giant panda, golden monkey and snow leopard.

The Banyan Tree Spa will have 12 treatment rooms offering treatments using traditional Chinese herbs, including the Jewels of Jiuzhai, which uses locally-found ingredients of sweet cherry, chun bei and tian ma. The Rainforest will be a hydrothermal experience combining European spa hydrotherapy with Asian wellness philosophies.
