Preferred Corby cinema design revealed

Local residents in Corby, Northamptonshire, have selected their preferred design for a new six-screen cinema to be developed in the town. Plans for a new 64m (208ft) Welsh dragon landmark on a site between Llangollen and Wrexham have been deferred by councillors. Local businessman Simon Wingett is behind the Waking The Dragon scheme, which also incorporates a 2,150sq m (23,142sq ft) cultural centre and landscaped gardens. The attraction will feature three galleries showing the history of Bristol from prehistoric times to the 21st century. Swan Leisure, a new Donnelly Turpin Architects-designed leisure centre in Rathmines, Dublin, has been officially unveiled by the local authority. John Paul Construction built the new complex on behalf of Dublin City Council, which forms part of the wider €36m (£30.5m) Rathmines Square development. The Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission in Minneapolis, US, has confirmed that snowfall caused the inflatable roof on the city's Metrodome to deflate.
