Work underway on flagship spa for 1 hotels
Hospitality and health consultancy, Under a Tree, has won the contract to create a flagship spa experience for 1 hotels, owned by Starwood Capital Group.
Scheduled to launch in 2015, at the 1 hotel Brooklyn Bridge Park, New York, the spa has been conceived around the idea of an urban retreat, according to Under a Tree’s Amy McDonald.
“The 7,000sq ft (650sq m) spa will consist of highly innovative specialty environments referencing signature themes of heat, water, earth and air,” she says. “Reflecting the hospitality brand, the experience will focus on a highly curated, personalised and integrated approach to lifestyle wellness.”
The spa menu will also offer a wealth of fresh air fitness and recreational programmes, connecting guests to the distinctive location, culture and atmosphere.
Under a Tree is also working on the luxury 51* Spa Residence, being developed by the Swiss Development Group, in the alpine thermal town of Loeche les Bains in Switzerland.
The 8,000sq ft (743sq m) site will provide a contemporary interpretation of two traditional wellness rituals: the Russian banya and the alpine bathhouse.
The two banya suites present a collection of integrated indoor and outdoor environments, combining contrast thermal bathing with relaxation and recreation, including spa and wellness services, private dining and made to order celebrations.
The bathhouse will be a place of contemplation, relaxation and congregation, with indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy pools using local mineral water.
