US$68m mixed-use development including the Le Meridien Columbus to open in January 2015

by Helen Andrews | 30 Apr 2014

The Joseph, a US$68m (€49m, £40m) mixed-use development, which includes Le Meridien Columbus hotel is set to open in January 2015 in the Short North neighbourhood of Columbus, Ohio, US.

Owned and developed by the Columbus-based Pizzuti Companies, the 11-storey high-rise broke ground in August 2013. Le Meridien Columbus will feature 135 bedrooms, an in-house restaurant and a spa.

The hotel's spa will include 11 treatment rooms, steam showers and heated loungers, offering a range of massages, facial treatments and other treatments, according to local media.

Designed by Miami-based architectural firm Arquitectonica, Le Meridien Columbus will also house an art gallery – much of the work coming from chair and CEO of Pizzuti, Ron Pizzuti's personal collection. More of the art will be displayed in an adjacent building.

Other features of the Joseph include meeting space that will span 8,000sq ft (743sq m), a 1,200sq ft (111sq m) fitness centre and a 3,400sq ft (316sq m) Coleman Ballroom – named after the city’s mayor.

Le Meridien is part of the multi-million project on two sides of the town’s High Street. Pizzuti Companies also plans to build the Offices at the Joseph, a six-storey 60,000sq ft (5,574sq m) building with office and retail space – plus a 313-space garage.

Last year Pizzuti announced that the 9,800sq ft (910sq m) retail space will be occupied by women’s apparel and accessory brand Anthropologie.
