Sanctum Inle Resort to open on Inle Lake in Myanmar

by Helen Andrews | 28 Jan 2015

A 96-bedroom resort and spa is planned to open on Myanmar’s Inle Lake in March 2015, further signs of the southeast Asian nation's growing appeal as a tourism destination. It is set to be managed by owner/operator Apple Tree Group – which also owns La Residence Hotel & Spa by Accor in Hue, Vietnam.

The Sanctum Inle Resort’s spa, spread across two floors, will feature four single treatment rooms, one couples’ suite, a Thai massage room and a foot massage room with four chairs.

A spokesperson for the resort spoke exclusively to Spa Opportunities, detailing plans for the facility’s wet areas. “It’s a fairly simple spa, although we are planning to add a fitness centre, lap pool and perhaps an outdoor relaxation area just outside the spa in phase two of development,” they said.

The Sanctuary Spa will measure approximately 200sq m (2,153sq ft) and will use products by Yves Rocher for facials and Natural Rendez-vous oils from Vietnam for massage. The target opening date for the spa is March 15.

The Apple Tree Group will manage the spa. “We have a spa trainer from Indonesia who worked at the Conrad Dubai, Shangri-La Dubai and Kempinski Azerbaijan,” added the spokesperson.

In terms of the design, Brigitte Dumont de Chassart created the plans for the hotel and the spa. The floor of the wellness facility will feature green cement tiles from Vietnam and the furniture is solid teak wood from Myanmar.
