Park Plaza Belvedere Medulin to open in Croatia later this month

by Helen Andrews | 03 Jun 2014

Park Plaza Belvedere Medulin is due to open later this month in Pula, Croatia, on the southern tip of the Istrian peninsula – the most western region of the country.

The 427-bedroom hotel will feature a 1,200sq m (12,917sq ft) spa with both an indoor and outdoor pool. Other hotel facilities include a revamp of Lungomare Beach restaurant, a show-cooking concept on-site and a total outdoor leisure space that covers 40,000sq m (430,556sq ft).

Guernsey-registered company PPHE Hotel Group has an exclusive licence from Carlson – the global privately held hospitality and travel company – to operate Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. PPHE also fully owns its art’otel brand.

The Park Plaza Belvedere Medulin joins Park Plaza Histria Pula and Park Plaza Verudela which were launched in 2012. The Park Plaza Histria Pula also features a luxury Comfort Zone spa which offers hot stone treatments, massages and many more therapeutic services. The consultants for this project were Aquila.

In line with Croatia's celebration of its 12-month anniversary within the Eurozone, Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts is promoting its regional resorts by compiling a list of several key locations in Pula. For example, the Istrian peninsula is the largest in the Adriatic Sea, with a 537km (334m) coastline and is home to one of the largest surviving Roman arenas in the world – the Arena of Pula.

There are also seven UNESCO World Heritage sites and Brijuni national park – which is a collection of 14 islands.

PPHE’s portfolio of owned, leased, managed and franchised properties comprises 38 hotels in operation, offering a total of more than 8,300 rooms. The development pipeline includes four new hotels, which together are expected to add more than 1,100 rooms to the portfolio by the end of 2016.
