Nine Elms regeneration scheme approved
A new hotel, restaurants and bars are to be created as part of a comprehensive revamp of the Tideway Industrial Estate in Nine Elms, London.
The plans, which also feature more than 750 new homes; cafés; offices; shops; and a crèche, were given the green light by Wandsworth Council's planning application committee. Located close to the Battersea Power Station site, the majority of the Tideway site is set to be opened up to the public and will feature a park and improved riverside walk.
Work is due to begin on site later this year, with St James Group behind the scheme. A £30m contribution towards the Northern Line extension will also be made by the developer. Committee chair Nick Cuff said: "This scheme will transform a semi-derelict industrial estate, creating acres of new public space and hundreds of new homes.
"With more major schemes on the horizon momentum is really starting to build in Nine Elms and the scale of the regeneration taking place is becoming increasing clear."
