Life Time selected to operate super athletic club in Brooklyn Tower

Real estate developer, Silverstein Properties has named Life Time as partner and operator of the 'athletic country club' at the new 1,066ft Brooklyn Tower in New York.

The development will be the largest of Life Time's nine locations in Brooklyn and will cover 80,000sq ft.

Silverstein Capital Partners acquired the tower from JDS Development in 2024 for US$672 million via a foreclosure after the project faltered due to slow sales. The unfinished building already has a small number of residents living on the lower floors.

The lavish nature of Life Time Brooklyn Tower will be critical to the turnaround on the project, covering seven floors, delivering recovery, rejuvenation and social spaces. In addition, Life Time will deliver programming in the form of studio classes and personal training.

The roll-call of facilities includes a rooftop pool and bar; a co-ed wet suite with indoor lap pool, cold plunge, steamroom and sauna; a spa with red light therapy, IV therapy and treatment rooms; coworking and library spaces; group fitness studios for barre, cardio, Pilates and yoga; strength and functional training spaces, including Life Time's signature Alpha, GTX and UltraFit zones and fitness and cardio equipment.

"As the new owner of Brooklyn Tower, Silverstein Properties is committed to a successful completion of the project which includes ensuring residents will continue to expect Life Time's unparalleled health and wellness experience as one of the building's suite of exceptional amenities," said Shawn Katz, president of Silverstein Capital Partners.

For Life Time, Parham Javaheri, president of cub operations and chief property development officer, said: "This will be another crown jewel in our large and growing portfolio of athletic country clubs in North America. This destination will be unmatched in offerings and we look forward to delivering our healthy living, healthy aging and healthy entertainment experiences to residents and the surrounding community."

Brooklyn Tower integrates the historic Dime Savings Bank of Brooklyn into its design, with its Guastavino dome and features 143 luxury condominiums and 398 rental residences. Design is by Krista Ninivaggi of Woods Bagot, SHoP Architects and HMWhite.

Residents will enjoy a year-round schedule of activities focused on six key themes of art, music, design, wellness, food and storytelling.

Life Time Brooklyn Tower is expected to open in the second half of 2026. In the meantime, the small number of existing residents are using other Life Time locations in the area.
