Kimpton continues Caribbean expansion with upcoming Grenada resort
Hot on the heels of Seafire Resort + Spa in Grand Cayman, which opened late last year, boutique hospitality brand Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has announced its second Caribbean property, the Kimpton Kawana Bay Grenada Resort, set to open in 2019.
Owned and developed by True Blue Development Ltd, the luxury 146-bedroom beachfront resort in the ‘Spice Island’ will offer instant access to the Caribbean sea and surrounding mountains. Amenities will include a spa, infinity pool, chef-driven restaurant, lounge and beach bars, watersports and fitness centre.
Warren Newfield, principal of True Blue Development, said that choosing Kimpton as operating partner was an easy decision. “We were extremely impressed with Kimpton’s business philosophy and approach, and we share the same vision for the resort and its operating style," he said. "We are thrilled to have Kimpton as our operating partner and brand, and welcome them to the team.”
The Seafire Resort + Spa was Kimpton's first foray into the international market. The company was acquired by InterContinental in 2014.
