KidZania expansion continues with S$90m Singapore edutainment park

KidZania continues to rapidly expand operations with the launch of its latest edutainment centre at Palawan Beach Sentosa in Singapore.

Opened to the public on 12 April, the 7,600sq m (25,000sq ft), S$90m (US$66.9m, €58.5m, £46.8m) facility covers two storeys with a capacity for up to 1,500 people at any time. Malaysian company Themed Attractions Resorts & Hotels, which also runs KidZania in Kuala Lumpur, is managing the park.

As with all KidZania properties, the fun-sized city offers children the chance to role play as adults in a number of professions, with Singapore the 18th country and 23rd KidZania city to open worldwide. Bespoke to each location, the Singapore version of Kidzania will offer the chance to be a pilot on a Qatar Airways airliner, act as a docent for the city’s Intan museum and work at the local bank, among a host of other professions.

In addition to the new location in Singapore, KidZania is developing five new cities in India, Qatar, South Africa, France and the US. To date, KidZania has welcomed more than 42 million people to its cities worldwide.

An in depth look at the team behind KidZania and how the franchise model operates is detailed in the Q3 2015 edition of Attractions Management, available here.
