'A place of joy': Four Seasons opens new Hawaii resort with six-storey spa

Hotel operator Four Seasons has opened its fifth Hawaiian resort; a new property on the island of O’ahu.

The Four Seasons Resort O’ahu at Ko Olina is located on the ocean in the community of Ko Olina. At the heart of the property is a 17-storey terraced hotel – originally designed by architect Edward Killingsworth in 1998 and now renovated by Honolulu studio Philpotts Interiors – that was once the centrepiece of a previous resort.

The resort has been developed by The Resort Group (TRG), one of Hawaii's largest landowners of resort developments; Westbank (WB), a Canadian luxury hotel developer; and Four Seasons.

The renovated building has 371 ocean- and lagoon-facing rooms, as well as restaurants decorated in authentic Hawaiiana style, inspired by nature and featuring traditional local woods and banana-leaf wall coverings.

The resort offers access to beaches and several pools overlooking the Pacific Ocean. There is also an on-site tennis centre, gardens and a custom-built wedding chapel.

A 35,000sq ft (3,250sq m) six-storey spa and wellness complex has also opened, with 14,200sq ft of outdoor space.
