Delos expanding healthy building with partnerships for cruise ships, airport lounges
Wellness real estate firm Delos is expanding its Stay Well programme with a new Stay Well at Sea cruise ship programme as well as an extension of its partnership with MGM Hotels in Las Vegas.
The company is also soon to launch its first airport lounge in partnership with skincare brand Comfort Zone.
The Stay Well at Sea programme has been developed in partnership with several leading cruise operators and is being created with Steiner Leisure, The Cleveland Clinic and Deepak Chopra’s new wellness platform, Jiyo.
Mindfulness and meditation will play a big part in The Stay Well at Sea programme, which will also include access to classes and apps, so that guests can book things like active excursions with a set amount of healthy steps.
“The (cruise) industry is understanding that they have to start selling wellness, and they have to put it up front,” Alfredo Carvajal, president of Delos International & Signature Program, told an audience at the Global Wellness Summit this week.
Additionally, guests will have access to three months of self-guided programming and access to eCoaches from the Cleveland Clinic after they disembark the cruise ship, which will address topics such as nutrition, sleep and stress reduction.
“So it’s not just what happens on board, it’s what you’re going to learn – and what you’re going to take with you after you disembark,” said Carvajal.
Delos is also launching its first collaboration into airport lounges, in partnership with New York-based spa operator Asanda and skincare brand Comfort Zone.
“We’re bringing wellness into airports,” said Carvajal.
The first location will be at Seattle's newest Delta Sky Club, which Carvajal said will be “a great wellness lounge that will have a place you can take naps, a place you can meditate, and you can go on an immersion experience with great products from Davines and Comfort Zone.”
The next Asanda Stay Well Lounge is slated to open in New York City's JFK Airport, Terminal 4, later this year.
Additionally, Delos is expanding its Stay Well collaboration with the MGM Hotel in Las Vegas, where it pioneered the concept in 2012. The company is working on doubling its offering of Stay Well rooms at the MGM, adding another floor of rooms in early 2017.
The firm also recently partnered with Marriott to add Stay Well rooms to five of its US properties.
“This is proven after over three years, new commitments are coming, and millions of dollars have been generated by Stay Well room premiums, validating the premise on return on wellness,” said Carvajal.
