Como Shambhala to debut in France with countryside wellness retreat
– Olivier Jolivet
The Como Group has announced plans to open its first luxury boutique hotel in France in the world-famous wine region of Burgundy.
Como Le Montrachet will open in phases, with stage one scheduled for completion in late 2022.
The hotel’s gradual opening will see the launch of one of its signature Asian-inspired Como Shambhala wellbeing retreats. The wellness destination will be the first-of-its-kind in France.
Established in 1997 by Christina Ong, Como Shambhala is the wellness brand of hotel group Como Hotels and Resorts – also founded by Ong.
Como is expanding its portfolio into France in partnership with Olma Luxury Holdings. The project began with the acquisition of the existing Hotel Le Montrachet, located in Puligny-Montrachet, Burgundy.
Nestled around a charming village square, guests will be invited to experience the Como way of life.
For this project, Como will again collaborate with esteemed designer Paola Navone to complement the historic 18th-century property with contemporary touches.
This launch marks the brand’s second European opening after Como Castello Del Nero in Tuscany, which was also designed by the Italian designer.
Arranged across four heritage buildings, 31 rooms and suites will be converted into chic sanctuaries.
With Como’s commitment to fine cuisine, guests of Como Le Montrachet can expect exciting dining options and authentic wine experiences in a striking countryside setting.
Olivier Jolivet, CEO of Como, said: “With the recent sale of Como Metropolitan Miami Beach, this announcement underlines our strategy to develop pioneering properties in new destinations.
“Besides Europe, we’ll also add a new luxury resort in the South Pacific to the portfolio in 2022.”
