Brentford FC Stadium plans move forward with development partner announcement
Willmott Dixon has been named the preferred development partner by Brentford Football Club under plans for a new 20,000-seat stadium and 910 homes in west London.
The new stadium plans will see Brentford move from its current home of Griffin Park – the club’s home since 1904 – and move to the new location on Lionel Road South.
The new homes will be built adjacent to the new stadium and on the site of the club’s current home after it has been demolished.
The surrounding area will also be regenerated with improvements made to the local environment and infrastructure.
Plans are for the stadium to be completed in time for the 2016/17 football season while the homes will be built over a six-year period.
The project was masterplanned by FaulknerBrowns architects, while AFLS+P did the stadium design.
Planning consent for the Brentford development was approved in December 2013 by the London Borough of Hounslow though it has not yet been confirmed by the mayor of London and communities secretary Eric Pickles.
