Warsaw's National Stadium nears completion

The new National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland, which is to host a number of games at next summer's UEFA European Football Championship, is due for completion later this month.
Built at a cost of around PLN1,915bn (£378m, EUR440m, US$604m), the new stadium is being developed on the site of the former Stadion Dziesieciolecia, which closed in 2008.
Hamburg, Germany-based Gerkan Marg and Partners (GMP) designed the scheme, which also involved Schlaich Bergermann and Partner and JSK Architekci.
The new National Stadium will boast a capacity in excess of 50,000 for football games and more than 70,000 for concerts. It will provide a base for the Polish national football team.
A spokesperson for GMP said: "The new structure is located over the solid rampart of the Dziesieciolecia national stadium, which was constructed in 1955 from rubble from the wartime Warsaw Uprisings.
"The revitalisation of this area as a sports park including the new national stadium represents a milestone not only for the city of Warsaw but also for the whole country in terms of national identity."
