Radisson adds revamped cultural icon to luxury Radisson Collection hotels portfolio

Radisson has added the Edwardian Manchester to its luxury Radisson Collection hotels portfolio following a £12m (US$16m, €14m) renovation of its Grade II-listed Free Trade Hall venue.

The hotel's revamp combines modern design with elements referencing and incorporating the palazzo heritage of the building, which was constructed between 1853 and 1856 to host cultural and public events.

There are 263 rooms and suites, ranging in size from 28sq m (301sq ft) to 98sq m (1,055sq ft) and designed to accommodate both short and longer stays. Features include floor-to-ceiling windows, spaces to work and handcrafted mattresses.

The hotel's Peter Street Kitchen serves Japanese and Mexican in a setting of high ceilings, natural wooden features, marble tables and pendant lighting.

The Library bar, meanwhile, is a more relaxed and social space with a Parisian-inspired aesthetic and is designed to be an extension of guests' bedrooms.

Guests also have access to a fitness centre with TechnoGym equipment and sections for cardio and weight workouts, a 12m (39ft) pool and a spa with a sauna, a steam room, treatment rooms and a relaxation room.

For business guests, the hotel offers 22 meeting rooms, as well as executive conference rooms and boardrooms that share a lounge area with a reception and other business facilities.

An events space that can accommodate up to 550 guests is available for a variety of functions, from conferences and exhibitions, to launch parties, fashion shows and weddings.

The Radisson Collection launched in early 2018 and the Edwardian Manchester is the third UK hotel to be added to its portfolio, following the May Fair in London and the Royal Mile in Edinburgh.
