Kohler spa hotel for NFL team's 'Titletown' leisure district opens in Wisconsin
An exclusive hotel anchoring a new sports and leisure district in Green Bay, Wisconsin, opened on Wednesday (19 July).
Lodge Kohler is one component of Titletown, the 34 acre district being developed by US National Football League (NFL) franchise the Green Bay Packers.
Designed by developer Kohler Co’s in-house design team, the hotel has 134 bedrooms, 10 suites and views of the Packers' 81,400-capacity Lambeau Field. It is also the official lodging partner of the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, a nonprofit attraction attended by tens of thousands of Packers fans each year.
"Guests will be embraced by a neutral colour palette set against warm wood tones, bronze accents and patinaed finishes for a design inspired by Kohler's history of gracious living and craftsmanship,” said Tim Andreas, director of architecture and interior design for Kohler Co.
The hotel features a Kohler Waters Spa, which encompasses 6,000sq ft (557sq m) within the first floor of the hotel and has six treatment rooms, three finishing stations, a hair salon and a boutique, as well as an intimate al fresco garden. A Kohler Custom Vichy shower massage, one of only four of its kind in the world, is also included, as is a 20m swimming pool with a waterfall, roof top spa garden and lounge.
CEO Herb Kohler, said: “Being part of the Green Bay and Ashwaubenon community, adjacent to Lambeau Field, is an experience that we welcome with open arms, and I extend Kohler hospitality to every guest of Lodge Kohler.”
The Lodge Kohler in Green Bay is the fourth spa location for Kohler, which has a long history of producing kitchen and bath products, engines and generators. In 1981, Herb Kohler transformed a workers’ dormitory called the American Club at the company headquarters in Kohler, Wisconsin, into a resort hotel. It was later joined in 2004 by The Old Course hotel, Golf Resort and Spa in St. Andrews, Scotland and The Kohler Waters Spa in Chicago.
The Green Bay Packers' 34 acre Titletown district has been masterplanned by sports architects Rossetti, with a design strategy focused on “the vibrancy of the public realm,” particularly on match days. It will be used for festivals, concerts, community events and tailgating during games.
Envisioned as a multi-generational and multi-modal “destination district and community asset” for the entire Green Bay region, phase one is due for completion by the end of 2017. It will centre around a park and public plaza located close to the team’s home ground and a local brewery. There will be an activities zone, a 36,000sq ft (3,400sq m) playground, a full-length sports field and an ice skating and sledding hill area.
