Jumeirah Group announces three China hotel deals

Jumeirah Group, the international luxury hotel chain, has announced the renowned architecture firms Foster + Partners, Zaha Hadid Architects and Denniston International as the designers of three luxury hotel developments the company will operate in China.

Subsidiaries of Yuexiu Group, a Guangzhou-based property development company, own two of the properties, which are being built in the cities of Haikou and Wuhan. They reached a deal whereby Jumeirah will manage the sites.

Kuala Lumpur-based Denniston International are responsible for Jumeirah Haikou Resort, which will open on a 136-hectare tropical island off the coast of the city - dubbed “the Hawaii of China” - in 2018. The development will boast 140 guest rooms and an exclusive golf course created by American Tom Doak.

Jumeirah Wuhan, a 200-bedroom hotel and leisure complex in the capital of the Hubei province, will follow when it opens 2020. Foster + Partners have designed the site, which contain several eye-catching towers with shops, conference facilities, residences and a business centre.

Jumeirah has also announced an agreement to manage a third property in the country - the Zaha Hadid-designed Jumeirah Nanjing. The architect - whose London Aquatics Centre was nominated for the 2014 RIBA Stirling Prize – has envisioned a complex in the city’s Hexi business district which will be formed of two curved towers behind a third low-rise structure.

The buildings will contain a luxury 250-bedroom hotel and an additional four-star hotel, as well as business, leisure and retail facilities - all slated for completion in 2016.

All three hotels have been designed to appeal to China’s growing high-end market. They will each include a fitness centre, Talise Spa, all-day dining and a Chinese speciality restaurant.
