Hirsch Bedner Associates launches new HBA Resort design division
– David Haughton, HBA Resorts
Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), one of the world’s largest hospitality interior design firms, has launched its seventh subdivision, HBA Resorts, which will specialise in the creation of bespoke luxury resort properties.
Headquartered in Bali, Indonesia, HBA Resorts provide tailored interior design, architecture and landscape services, with staff collaborating with artisans in Southeast Asia to create “indigenous and authentic design projects for the world’s most treasured resorts.”
Explaining the decision to open the new branch, HBA Co-CEO Ian Carr said: “With more [resort and hotel] owners and operators seeking out exceptional bespoke properties, we responded to the overwhelming demand, and reflected the need for increased specialisation in hospitality design by delivering individualised, tailored design for each resort.
“Our unrivalled capability to offer our clients a ‘one-stop-shop’ for all their design needs from a resort capital such as Bali has HBA Resort poised to be the leader in its industry.”
The studio will be led by HBA principal David Haughton, who pledged his team will design “narrative-driven hotels that speak to each hotel’s distinct and discerning visitor by creating an experience through tailor-made design.”
“Gone are the days of generic hotels made to fit all guests,” he added. “We want to create an imaginative new product each time.”
HBA’s portfolio includes resort properties across the world, including the Four Seasons Seychelles, Park Hyatt Maldives, Jumeirah Maldives and Eagle Island Botswana.
The company’s other subdivisions include HBA architecture, Canvas Art Consultants and Illuminate Lighting Design.
HBA Resort has already begun work on three projects in Bali: the Anzara Nusa Lembongan resort, the Intercontinental Hotel Bali and the New World Grand Bali Resort.
