Aman to develop its first African safari resort in Mozambique
Aman Resorts is developing its first African safari resort and branded residences at Aman Karingani, a retreat within the 150,000-hectare Karingani Game Reserve in southern Mozambique.
The property will perch above the reserve’s sweeping plains and it will have 30 standalone guest pavilions as well as a central lodge for facilities, including the brand’s signature Aman Spa and an outdoor pool.
Details of the spa and of the property's estimated opening date have not yet been revealed.
All of the pavilions, which range from one to two-bedrooms, open onto covered decks with views across the savannahs and woodlands from their private pools.
The branded residences will have three- to six-bedrooms.
The reserve’s diverse landscape features open plains, forests and seasonal wetlands. This diversity will provide Aman with varied safari game drive opportunities.
Aman Karingani will be the second property by Aman on the African continent. The opening of Amanjena in Marrakech, Morocco, in 2000 marked the brand’s debut. The Moroccan hotel is currently closed for renovation and is scheduled to open in October to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
Vlad Doronin, chair and CEO of Aman Group, said: "The introduction of Aman Karingani is a significant milestone for our brand as we bring Aman's ethos of timeless elegance, unparalleled service and profound privacy to Mozambique for the first time.
"Responding to the growing desire from our brand loyalists for an Aman safari retreat in Africa, the property reinforces the brand's commitment to offering transformative experiences connected to nature and an ultra-luxury way of living in the world's most exceptional destinations," added Doronin.
"Set within one of the continent's most pristine and diverse reserves, I'm delighted to bring Aman's renowned lifestyle to Mozambique," he said.
The new resort joins a pipeline of Aman and Janu properties under development.
