Finalists revealed for European Hotel Design Awards
The finalists for the 2016 European Hotel Design Awards have been announced following a preliminary round of voting, with a shortlist that showcases some of the continent’s most innovative new projects across the sector.
The shortlist includes an apple-themed hotel and spa in Germany, a resort recreating an authentic Mallorcan village in Spain, and a Clodagh-designed getaway inspired by Portugal's trading history.
The ten shortlisted categories include best new build, best renovation, best spa and best restaurant.
The finalists will now proceed to the next stage of the competition, in which a member of the judging panel will visit each hotel to assess its “creative excellence” and to find evidence that winning projects have met the needs of both the client and guests.
The 15-strong judging panel – chaired by Celia Geyer, senior director of architecture and design for Hilton Worldwide – will then meet in London to vote on the category winners. The successful architects and designers will be awarded at a ceremony taking place on 21 November at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London.
