DSDHA's The Mansion residences wrap luxury amenities in a glass and terracotta exterior
– Deborah Saunt
DSDHA has designed a luxury new residential development called The Mansion with a striking glass and terracotta exterior and 6,500sq ft (600sq m) of wellness-focused amenities for residents.
The Mansion was developed by Clivedale London and designed by DSDHA to be modern and cutting edge, but also to blend in with its surroundings.
The development is located in the Marylebone area of London and the terracotta fins on its façade were chosen to match the area's red brick buildings.
Discussing the feature, founding director of DSDHA Deborah Saunt said: "The Mansion reinterprets the traditional Marylebone mansion block through its bespoke terracotta-glazed cladding. We worked with a specialist company in Germany over the course of two years developing The Mansion’s unique thé-au-lait – tea with milk – tonality that echoes the architectural characteristics of the neighbourhood’s Edwardian facades, most notably on nearby Wigmore Hall."
Covering 55,000 sq ft (5,100sq m) and spread over seven floors, The Mansion contains 23 single-level and duplex apartments, ranging from studios up to two penthouses.
Residents have access to a 25m (82ft) private pool, a fitness studio, a private treatment room, a steam room and a western red cedar sauna.
There is also a private residents' lounge that overlooks a sunken garden and a travertine-lined lobby with a bespoke Lasvit chandelier and a double-height window that looks out onto the garden.
The building's open-plan interiors were designed by Arney Fender Katsalidis, with floor-to-ceiling windows allowing plenty of natural light into the apartments.
Construction of The Mansion began in 2015, with practical completion in February this year, allowing residents to move in. The building and its amenities were fully completed this autumn.
