£1.2m sports park plans announced
The Kewford Eagles Football Club in Staffordshire has announced details of its proposed £1.2m sports park after seven years in the planning.
The club recently secured a 30-year lease for a 30-acre site next to Dudley Kingswinford Rugby Club in Wall Health, which will host the facility if plans are approved by Staffordshire County Council.
The proposed facility will boast 11 football pitches, varying in size for all ages, including a full-size, floodlit, all-weather pitch and a mini pitch. There will also be a small function room and changing rooms.
Birmingham-based PTCP Architects are advising the club's committee on the plans for the development.
Councillor Lynn Boleyn, ward member for Wall Heath and club welfare officer for Kewford Eagles, said: "We currently have 500 children playing football and we are continually growing. We outgrew our existing four pitch facility years ago, and spent £45,000 last year alone renting facilities at local sports complexes and schools."
The club's committee intends to submit plans to the council before the end of the year and, if approved, the club's committee will be applying for grants from the Football Association and National Lottery.
