Amanvari to open in Mexico with longevity-inspired Aman Spa and temazcal sweat lodge
Aman will unveil an 18-key resort and collection of branded residences, Amanvari, in Q2 2026 on the shores of the East Cape of Baja California, Mexico.
Amanvari takes its name from the Sanskrit-derived words for “peace” and “water”
The hotel and residences will form part of a destination lifestyle community called Costa Palmas, which ranges across a 1,500-acre private estate. The property will comprise 18 acres of orchards and farms, three miles of beach, yacht club and deep-water marina.
The original design is by Heah and Co and this vision has been brought to life by Elastic Architects. The Amanvari resort will celebrate its natural setting, between beachfront, desert and estuary.
The hotel’s 18 casitas will be built at an elevated height, offering sweeping views of the Sea of Cortez and the Sierra de la Laguna mountains. The residences will be positioned on the sand, with their own private pools and courtyards, either facing the water or overlooking the estate’s Robert Trent Jones II-designed golf course.
Aman Spa
The Aman Spa will offer treatments and experiences that reflect the brand’s longevity-focused approach.
Earlier this year, Aman announced a series of Longevity Pathway programmes crafted in collaboration with its global wellness adviser, tennis star Novak Djokovic. Read more about his personal approach and investments in longevity in a recent profile feature by Spa Business.
The spa will also feature a modern interpretation of a temazcal, an ancient Mexican sweat lodge ceremony, traditionally performed in a dome-shaped sauna made of adobe (sun-dried bricks of clay and organic materials such as straw).
Treatments will take place in the brand’s signature Spa Houses. There will also be an open-air yoga pavilion in addition to tranquil spaces designed for relaxation and reflection.
Other facilities and activities
Amanvari will have a range of dining venues with cuisines from Italy, Japan and flavours local to Baja.
The diverse landscape will provide opportunities for guests to go snorkelling, diving, hiking and sailing.
Aman pipeline
Amanvari is set to become Aman’s sixth property in the Americas and Caribbean.
It joins a pipeline of global projects, including 2027 openings for Aman Beverly Hills and Aman Miami Beach in the US. Other properties due to open soon include Aman Dubai in the UAE, Aman Maldives in the Maldives, as well as Amancaya, The Bahamas, in the Caribbean.
Aman has an existing portfolio of 36 hotels, resorts and branded residences in 20 destinations around the globe.
