Self-playing gongs and sauna rituals will feature at Hagastrand in Stockholm’s royal park, with concepts by Alla Sokolova

by Helen Andrews | 16 Jul 2025

Privately-owned hospitality company Nobis Hospitality Group will unveil a new Swedish wellness destination property called Hagastrand in Q4 this year, located next to the Brunnesviken lake in Stockholm’s royal park, Haga.

When it opens, the property will join Marriott International’s luxury Autograph Collection and be known as Hagastrand, Autograph Collection. It will be the first Autograph Collection property in Scandinavia.

A spokesperson for Nobis Hospitality group told Spa Business the collaboration with Marriott will give the property wider exposure to an international audience while retaining its distinct identity.

The 215-key property has been designed by Wingårdhs Architects to incorporate Nordic features and create spaces for guests to work, connect and relax simultaneously.

The 2,500sq m Hagastrand Spa will be a sanctuary for connection, contemplation and renewed energy. The spa concept has been developed by Nobis’ wellness expert Alla Sokolova to combine Nordic wellness rituals, biohacking technology and immersive sensory design.

Sokolova outlined details of the 2,500sq m spa and fitness offering at the property exclusively for Spa Business.

The spa will have four treatment rooms, a wellness suite for private group experiences and a private spa area with a duo of suites for holistic treatments.

The spa will offer a social wellness experience with a 100sq m event sauna that can accommodate up to 60 guests for music-driven storytelling rituals led by certified saunamasters.

The thermal bathing circuit will also have other saunas (including a herbal infusion sauna), a hammam, experience showers and a snow room.

Additionally, there will be a pool, a lounge serving seasonal food and drinks, tranquil relaxation areas and neuro-acoustic loungers enhanced with red light therapies – with equipment by Nutrilight and Rippl.

An art installation of self-playing titanium gongs called Gongmatic will provide a sound healing experience for guests in a dedicated room. Gongmatic is a sensory ritual by a company called Grotta Sonora that combines handcrafted gongs with technology to create new ways to connect audiences with music and sound.

Sokolova said: “It is exciting to open the doors to a new dimension of immersive wellbeing – a space available to locals, leisure guests and business travellers alike. Hagastrand is designed to awaken the senses, spark curiosity and support creativity by blending ancient wisdom with music, art performance and mindfulness. It’s a place not only for rest and recovery, but for reconnection: with oneself and others.

The hotel will also have a wellness concept store and a 350sq m gym. Daily movement classes and retreats will be offered in partnership with Sanctum.
