Remedy Place opens third location as social wellness trend accelerates
Social wellness pioneer, Remedy Place, has opened the doors to its third site. Soho is the second Remedy Place club in New York City and the largest, most elevated, club to date.
Spanning 7,400 square feet, the aesthetic is a mix of luxury and functionality; using warm, organic tones to create a welcoming environment and 'soothe the senses'.
Speaking exclusively to HCM, Dr Jonathan Leary, founder and CEO of Remedy Place, says: "As I reflect on the evolution of Remedy Place and the growing interest in social wellness, I believe this movement is vital to set us up for success and to have a new way to socialise. The emergence of other players in this space is a testament to the increasing recognition of the importance of self-care and human connection.
“The global pandemic underscored the need for such a space, as it isolated everyone and heightened awareness around health, leading to what is now termed the 'loneliness epidemic'. Research – including the landmark 80-year Harvard study – has shown the critical importance of human connection for both our health and longevity. It has also taught us that we are responsible for our own health: no one else can make us healthy without our active participation.
“Building Remedy Place was never just about creating a business; it was about a larger mission and a significant movement. Every day in my medical practice I saw the need for change to truly help people. Now alternative medicine, self-care and social wellness are finally getting the attention they deserve. To see all of these talks now happening globally is a never stopping pinch-me moment. When I think about everything happening in the world and the impact this movement is having, I get emotional. It's really happening, and this is just the beginning. I can't wait to see where all of this leads in my lifetime.”
New experiences on offer include:
• AI-powered Bodywork – a deep tissue experience that allows guests to set pressure preferences.
• An infrared sauna suite that allows guests to personalise their heat settings, including traditional Finnish dry heat and infrared options that can be experienced at the same time or separately.
• IV libraries – comfortable areas for guests to get work done while getting a vitamin infusion. There is also a private Work and Drip suite for people who want to take a conference call while having an infusion.
• A full-body FDA-cleared red light bed, which uses patented technology to support circulation, overall relaxation and full-body well-being.
• A dedicated space, MovementRX, for chiropractic experiences, designed to help members become pain free.
• An assessment suite to create individualised, self-care programmes for guests following tests including movement screenings, VO2 max, body scans and blood work.
• Custom made hyperbaric oxygen chambers, with the option to remain upright or lie down, giving members the opportunity to multi-task if they choose.
• Roller suites featuring the newly-launched Remedy Roller, from the Tech-Remedy Collection.
• An ice bath studio, as well as a contrast suite featuring a traditional sauna and ice bath, changing room, and a mini bar which can cater for large party reservations.
• Mini bars are available in the sauna suites with a global assortment of the finest bottled waters.
• A bespoke Remedy Place scent has been created with Bio Alchemy. The fragrance fills the club and is diffused via installations of aged burnt cork, merging art and wellness in a sensory experience.
• Members will have a dedicated liaison to support them in a quarterly routine, where they are tested and guided based on personalised data, with tracked results.
Since launching the first Remedy Place in 2019, Leary has also moved into the home market with the Tech-Remedies collection. The latest product offering is a collaboration with Kohler to create an ice bath, featuring a contemporary design and high-end materials, as well as precision temperature control, ergo-dynamic body positioning, a state-of-the-art UV-powered filtration system, and an integrated light to help guide breathwork, which is delivered via guided videos. It can be used both indoors and outdoors and has optional plumbing integration for easy filling and draining.
Remedy Place recently appointed William Acevedo as COO to drive strategic expansion and operational excellence. He will be integral to scaling the business, with the next site set for Boston this winter and other global partnerships on the cards. Previously, he was COO for Ever/Body and Glamsquad, as well as being involved with expansion at retailers including Macy’s and Banana Republic.
