Disney hints at new gate for Walt Disney World as part of Lake Nona campus development
Disney has filed a planning application that kickstarts the group's plans to create a future regional campus and HQ in Florida, US.
The application also indicates that the new campus could include an additional gate for Disney's Orlando theme park, Walt Disney World
The proposals show a 1.8million sq ft campus at Lake Nona in Orlando, featuring a number of office buildings, two "flex buildings" and large parking areas.
The buildings will be built around a central park, with walkways linking each of the buildings to the rest of the Lake Nona campus.
The plans suggest that construction will be completed in stages.
Once completed, the Lake Nona campus is set to become the new HQ for Disney’s Parks, Experiences and Products division.
The move could see more than 2,000 jobs move from the current Disney HQ in California.
The filing of the plans was confirmed by developer, Tavistock Development Company
"Last week, we filed a preliminary application to begin the process of approvals for construction of Disney's future regional campus in Lake Nona," the company said.
Lake Nona is a visionary community of the future, based on wellness, offering built-in lifestyle services for people of all ages.
Encompassing 17-square-miles and located adjacent to Orlando International Airport, Lake Nona's development is being based on technology, innovation and community.
