Global spa brand ESPA has produced exclusive wellness programming, named Meaningful Wellness Journeys, for select Ritz-Carlton hotel spas across the globe.

ESPA has created 10 new Meaningful Wellness rituals centred around three key wellness pillars – Mind, Body and Skin – for the Marriott-owned hotel brand. The options range from facials and massages to a selection of dynamic body treatments (see end of this article for the full list), with prices varying depending on location.

The three new Wellness Mind Treatments are designed to emphasise mindful awareness, elevate self-care and attentiveness, and improve focus and clarity, meanwhile, the four Wellness Body Treatments are claimed to optimise physicality, build resilience and somatic strength, and heighten physical awareness, connection and body presence.

ESPA has completed the offering with three Wellness Skin Treatments to target skin health for both face and body to promote the natural functionality of skin and maintain balance and vibrancy.

So far, the rituals are exclusively available at The Ritz-Carlton, Turks & Caicos, The Ritz-Carlton, Abama, The Ritz-Carlton, Mexico City and The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage. They will also launch at The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad, once it opens later this quarter.

Daniel Golby, managing director at ESPA, said: “Luxury consumers are placing a higher value on their wellness needs and we must adapt to exceed these expectations within the spa industry.

“Holistic wellbeing has always been at the forefront of ESPA’s treatments and experiences. We’ll continue to evolve to meet the growing demand for mindfulness within our spa offering, especially following the challenges of the pandemic.”

To prepare guests, each journey will include pre-treatment touchpoints within Ritz-Carlton Spas to ensure guests arrive ready to maximise their appointment.

Following their therapies, guests will also receive post-treatment cards with tips and techniques covering everything from breathwork to affirmations, so they can continue to practice wellbeing at home.

There will also be full-day wellness retreats on offer at select Ritz-Carlton Spas. During these experiences, guests will be able to select three spa signature treatments from the spa menu and two of the new Meaningful Wellness Journeys. Additionally, each retreat includes a healthy lunch and wellness take-home ESPA gift.

The collaboration is not ESPA’s first time creating a spa treatment concept for a luxury hotel brand, as back in 2021, the company devised an exclusive treatment concept for One&Only Resorts.

Named Nature’s Resonance, the programming was crafted to re-connect guests’ minds, bodies and senses to the environment around them through the use of binaural beats, soundscapes, nature and massage patterns.

Meaningful Wellness Treatments

Mind

Heal & Renew Facial – 80 /90 minutesThis treatment has been created to calm both the skin and the soul with a restorative and healing journey. It includes guided breathing, visualisation and a warm herbal poultice massage on the face, scalp, hands and feet.

The Art of Wellness Massage – 80/90 minutes

To create a state of pure bliss, ESPA has combined guided breathing and visualisation together with a Salt Stone and Rose Quartz Crystal massage to release physical tension and relax the mind to embrace the art of letting go.

Awakening Bamboo Massage – 80/90 minutes Channelling an uplifting, rhythmic blend of free-flowing bamboo massage movements, while alleviating deep tension from top to toe, this treatment is claimed to help the body embrace a sense of complete wellness and let the mind settle in a sanctuary of calm and positivity.

Body

Wellbeing & Resilience Massage – 80/90 minutes Moving guests’ minds and bodies to a place of greater strength and resilience, this treatment is said to help release muscular tension, revitalise wellbeing, boost energy and support the immune system with a blend of yogic stretching, sinus release, reflexology and a deep back and scalp massage.

Body Fortifying Massage – 50/80 or 60/90 minutes

Targeting deep-seated muscular pain and restoring comfort and supple movement with active stretching, this deep muscle massage uses hot stones and a fortifying oil on the neck, shoulders and back to instantly alleviate deep-seated tension and provide lasting relief.

Cleansing Body Sculpt Treatment – 100/120 minutes This ritual combines a wellness-boosting detoxifying algae wrap, cleansing exfoliation and sculpting body massage to help tone and firm skin. It targets areas prone to cellulite and fluid retention, stimulates circulation and smooths skin texture.

Bamboo Muscle Reviving Massage - 80/90 minutes

Designed for those who exercise regularly, this energetic full-body treatment is ideal for improving flexibility and joint mobility, according to Espa. Free-flowing, fast-paced massage using bamboo releases deep tension, slows busy minds and helps elongate tight muscles to leave guests feeling relaxed and revitalised.

SkinRenew and Revitalize Ritual - 80/90 minutes

Supporting skin’s resilience and radiance, this treatment helps reinvigorate vitality to dull, sluggish or stressed skin by tapping into a combination of body brushing, exfoliation, thymus tapping and lymphatic facial massage.

Detoxifying Wellness Poultice Treatment - 80/90 minutes This treatment is claimed to have a cleansing effect on the body and mind, using warm herbal poultices to provide warmth to the muscles and joints while boosting circulation with stimulating exfoliation. Guests can also enhance the ritual and choose between a choice of either a facial or scalp massage.

Natural Resilience Facial - 80/90 minutes

This facial is designed to be the ‘complete approach to skin health’ using cutting-edge pre- and probiotic technology combined with the same benefits of physical exercise to detoxify, invigorate, sculpt and relax. ESPA makes use of age-defying techniques inspired by Japanese Kobido massage, along with cool and smooth Jade rollers that facilitate lymphatic drainage, to leave the skin firm, lifted and radiant.
