Raffles' first North American hotel and spa will launch in central Boston
Raffles Hotels and Resorts is set to make its North American debut in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts, in 2022.
Raffles Boston Back Bay Hotel & Residences is coming to fruition after a US$400mn (€358.5mn, £298.5mn) investment and sees Raffes increase its global development pipeline to 14 properties.
Designed by Boston-based firm The Architectural Team, the 35-storey location will be home to 147 guestrooms with interiors fashioned by Stonehill Taylor, as well as 146 residences created by The Rockwell Group.
The inaugural US Raffles property will feature an urban wellness sanctuary, consisting of a state-of-the-art Raffles Spa, fitness centre and indoor pool.
Raffles Boston will also bring 15 additional gathering spaces to life, including a variety of venues dedicated solely to residents.
Highlights within the social spaces will include six dining venues, a two-storey Sky Lobby perched high above the city’s iconic Copley Square, a manicured rooftop garden terrace lounge, a variety of residents-only gathering places and a ballroom with views over the Charles River.
The project is a joint venture between Trinity Stuart LLC – a partnership between two Boston entities: The Noannet Group and hotelier Gary Saunders’ Saunders Hotel Group – alongside privately held investment firm Cain International.
“With its unique position overlooking the Charles River, Back Bay skyline and Boston Harbour, alongside access to incredible lifestyle amenities, Raffles Boston is set to be a landmark development with a one-of-a-kind hospitality offering,” said Jonathan Goldstein, Cain International CEO.
“We look forward to advancing towards completion with our partners."
In what is a rare occurrence within Boston real estate, Raffles Boston secured the air rights over the adjoining University Club, allowing it to soar to 35 stories.
Located at 40 Trinity Place, Raffles Boston will join Raffles’ portfolio of 16 properties, located from Singapore to Paris, Bali to Phnom Penh and Dubai to the Maldives.
Accor, the Paris-based parent of Raffles Hotels & Resorts, is the hotel management partner.
