Four Seasons’ highly anticipated Californian retreat set within a working winery in Napa Valley is in its final stages of construction, with an opening scheduled for Q1 2021.

Designed by Napa’s own Erin Martin and set in a vineyard, The Four Seasons Napa Valley will be an intimate retreat, featuring 85 farmhouse-style accommodations and a bespoke spa concept, called Spa Talisa.

The 13,050sq ft Spa Talisa is inspired by a Native American term for “beautiful water”, chosen as a homage to the town of Calistoga’s 150-year history as a holistic spa and wellness destination.

An outdoor relaxation space will anchor the spa, encompassing a garden overlooking the vineyards and Palisades Mountains, a sunken whirlpool and sunning benches.

Private patios with steam decks will also be provided for a Native-inspired steam experience authentic to Calistoga, plus a mud and sun bay created to draw toxins from the body with mineral-rich volcanic ash.

The facility is being brought to life with help from Curry Spa Consulting and will be completed with eight treatment rooms.

Natalie Posner has been appointed spa director at the resort after 15 years of industry experience, including a previous role as assistant spa director at the largest Four Seasons spa in the US, the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village.

“Our vision for Spa Talisa is to marry modern science with ancient healing traditions to ensure a focus on the ‘three W’s’: wine, wisdom and wellness – in all aspects of programming,” she said, speaking to Spa Business.

“I truly want Spa Talisa to feel like a home away from home for everyone.”

The curated menu of treatments and services will include products by 100 per cent non-toxic molecular skincare system Seed to Skin, founded in Tuscany, Italy, as well as Napa-based boutique skincare brand LIV + GRACE SKINCARE.

Other offerings at Spa Talisa will be influenced by the Calistoga region, incorporating healing tribal rituals and ancient Far East practices.

The Brave Spirit Body Ritual will exercise the mind and body with a grounding foot soak, aura cleanse by way of sage spritz and feather wisp, followed by an invigorating marine algae and salt scrub and a detoxifying thermal mud balm to soothe and nourish the skin.

In an ode to the location, guests will also be offered bespoke wine-inspired treatments such as the Vineyard Scrub utilise the healing power of grape seeds and olive oil extracted from century-old olive trees on property.
