A luxury vinotherapy spa has opened in the French wine region of Breuil, Sologne, at the newly opened Les Sources de Cheverny hotel.

Located at an original 18th-century Château, Les Sources de Cheverny is the second location from the group behind the first Palace des Vignes hotel and vinotherapy spa, Les Sources De Caudalie, set amongst a 72-hectare vineyard in Martillac.

Launched by the Cathiard family in 1999, the flagship is the birthplace of globally-renowned vinotherapy skincare brand, Caudalie, and has inspired the design and philosophy behind Les Sources de Cheverny.

The Cathiards’ daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Jérôme Tourbier, operate both hotels which were brought to life by the same architect, Yves Collet. Design studio Be-Poles completed the interior design for the new opening.

The estate’s 800sq m vinotherapy spa, Le Spa des Sources, adjoins the Château and is designed to blend seamlessly with the location, using natural local materials including soft recycled wood, zinc and natural slate.

Alice Tourbier worked alongside Collet to create the seven-treatment room spa, managed by Les Sources de Cheverny, which offers a menu including a range of Caudalie treatments using products made from grape seed extracts offering anti-ageing and antioxidant properties.

Surrounded by dense forests and a lake, the spa and hotel have been conceived to bring guests back to nature and offer a barefoot luxury experience with wellness at its heart.

“The whole experience at Le Spa des Sources is very unique because of its prime location right in front of the forest,” said Alice Tourbier, “when you’re in the indoor pool facing our woods you feel like you’re being enveloped in a cosy cocoon, and the only thing you have to do is to let yourself be pampered.”

A highlight of the spa is its hand-painted entrance by the artist, Claire Basler, designed to offer a perfect transition from outdoors to indoors and to encourage a relaxed atmosphere.

Along with the indoor spring water pool with a vaulted ceiling, the spa houses a hammam and a jacuzzi made out of oak wood, reminiscent of a cask from a vineyard.

The destination also offers guests a host of wellness activities including forest walks, meditation, Tai Chi and yoga classes, as well as having access to nearby local wine tours and historical walks.

The village-style destination includes 49 rooms in total, 13 of which are in the Château, with the remainder spaced out across the estate in stone huts designed to look like traditional French farmhouses. It is completed with two restaurants, one offering a fine dining experience and the other, a more relaxed offering.

Looking ahead, there are plans to expand the portfolio into every French wine region and create a Vineyards Hotel collection.
