GWS announces venue change – will be held at The Breakers, Florida

With wellness at a pivotal moment, it’s a call to action for us to strategise how new, comprehensive and more inclusive wellness concepts could transform the world post-COVID-19
– Susie Ellis, chair and CEO, Global Wellness Summit

The Global Wellness Summit (GWS) has switched venues from Tel Aviv to the US following travel disruption due to the pandemic.

The event will now take place from 8-11 November 2020 at The Breakers in Palm Beach, with Tel Aviv hosting the following summit from 15-18 November 2021.

The Breakers is well known to GWS delegates, having hosted the event in 2017.

This year's theme will be 'Resetting the World with Wellness' with the event focusing on a number of key areas, including:

* The creation of less elitist wellness concepts that can serve diverse populations

* Wellness technology, including the first GWS Tech Innovation Pavilion

* Wellness design, communities and real estate, with a post-summit event at wellness residential development Serenbe, in Atlanta

* Mental wellness, and how the pandemic is spurring innovation in this area

"With wellness at a pivotal moment, this is a call to action," said Susie Ellis, chair and CEO. "We're inviting wellness businesses, government leaders, and the medical and technology worlds to come together and strategise how new, more comprehensive, and more inclusive wellness concepts could transform the world post-COVID-19."

Ellis said every aspect of the summit will be "curated to deliver a safe, hygienic way for people to begin to meet again" and to "create a model for how a conference should now be convened."

Dr Richard Carmona, 17th surgeon general of the US, will serve as medical advisor to the event working with the GWS team.

The team at The Breakers will also collaborate with local and federal government agencies to ensure the GWS "exceeds all standards for a safe gathering by ensuring appropriate physical distancing and generous use of outdoor space."

The aim is also to exceed recommended CDC and World Health Organization guidelines during the event.
