Rosewood rolls out Asaya brand and plans six new spa resorts for 2018
– Niamh O'Connell, group vice president of guest experience and wellness, Rosewood
Luxury operator Rosewood Hotels and Resorts is set to launch a new holistic wellness concept – part of an expansion which includes six new resorts next year.
Revealing details for the six new openings, Rosewood said the Asaya spa brand will make its debut on 20 November at its first Southeast Asia resort, the Rosewood Phuket, followed by a second Asaya spa in Hong Kong during 2018.
The integrative concept centres on “self-acceptance and self-discovery”, and has been created under the direction of Niamh O’Connell, Rosewood’s group vice president of guest experience and wellness.
Asaya fuses complementary therapies, lifestyle and nutrition coaching with educational wellness programming, fitness activities and specialised healing.
Spa treatments will be delivered using authentic ingredients, while designs include social spaces, as well as areas dedicated to relaxation, reflection and fitness.
Speaking to Spa Business earlier this year, O’Connell said: “Consciously and unconsciously, wellness is becoming more significant in our day-to-day lives – in the ways we work, eat, sleep and socialise.
“Asaya is designed to assist guests in recognising areas of their lives they’d like to change and then providing the tools and support they need to make these changes. Ultimately, this process enables people to adopt an enhanced lifestyle and have a more complete sense of self-acceptance.”
The Asaya concept will include a variety of indoor and outdoor fitness elements, in partnership with Technogym.
It also marks the first time Rosewood has introduced global skincare partnerships, with Maison Caulières and EviDenS de Beautè both on offer.
The Rosewood Hong Kong hotel will occupy 27 floors of the former New World Centre on the city’s Victoria Dockside – the site of a new, US$2.6bn (£1.99bn, €2.23bn) art and design district in the city.
Featuring 199 bedrooms, the hotel will be designed by two New York-based architects’ studios – tonychi and Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates.
The others Rosewood Resorts to open in 2018 are:
Rosewood Miramar Beach Montecito
Located on the site of the former Miramar Beach Hotel in California, the 100-year-old landmark property is owned by private real estate giant Caruso Affiliated.
Rosewood will manage the hotel on behalf of Caruso and facilities will include 124 guestrooms, two swimming pools and the company's other spa brand, 'Sense, A Rosewood Spa'.
Rosewood Luang Prabang
The resort in Laos will open as Rosewood’s first ultra-luxury encampment, featuring luxury tents, villas and suites.
Located adjacent to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Luang Prabang, the property has been designed with elements inspired by Lao tradition and the French colonial style, and will offer eight deluxe villas, three garden villas, six private pool villas and five luxury tents.
Facilities include a Sense spa featuring three treatment rooms and a relaxation area.
Rosewood Guangzhou
Located in the heart of the city’s Tianhe District’s central business area, the property will occupy the top 16 floors of the 530-metre (1,739ft) Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre, the tallest completed building in Guangzhou – one of the fastest-growing Chinese cities.
Featuring 251 guestrooms and 355 Rosewood Residences, the hotel will house a two-level Sense spa with eight spa treatment suites, a health club and an indoor pool.
Rosewood Baha Mar
Located on Cable Beach in Nassau, The Bahamas, Rosewood Baha Mar will offer 185 ocean view rooms and suites and five luxury beachfront villas with private pools.
Facilities include a Sense spa, two swimming pools and a health club.
Rosewood Phnom Penh
The 175-bedroom Rosewood Phnom Penh in Cambodia will occupy the top 14 floors of the city’s 188m (617ft), 39-storey Vattanac Capital Tower One.
Facilities will include a Sense spa with six treatment rooms, a 20m swimming pool and a health club.
