Six Flags announces Cyborg gyroscope ride for New Jersey's Great Adventure
Six Flags has announced a unique ride addition for its Great Adventure park in Jackson, New Jersey, with the gyroscope-inspired thrill ride themed on DC hero Cyborg.
Called Cyborg Cyber Spin, the ride will feature a triple box design that allows the gondola to spin around three separate axes while rotating forward, backwards and sideways simultaneously, resulting in unpredictable flips and pivots at heights of up to 70ft (21.3m).
Seating 24 people with over-the-shoulder harnesses, riders will experience a combination of negative and positive gravitational forces, with the ride – manufactured by ABC Rides Switzerland – also displaying a light show visible across the New Jersey skyline.
As part of the continued partnership between Six Flags and Warner Bros, the Cyber Spin will expand the park's DC Comic area, joining the existing Justice League: Battle for Metropolis experience.
While announcing the Cyber Spin, park president, Neal Thurman said: "Six Flags Great Adventure is home to an unparalleled collection of record-breaking attractions and we are excited to be adding Cyborg Cyber Spin, the first of its kind in North America.
"Like the Superhero Cyborg, this futuristic, hi-tech ride will be unlike anything our guests have ever experienced before and it's the perfect new thrill ride to expand our new Metropolis section."
The ride is likely to raise interest in one of DC's lesser known heroes, in time for the planned Cyborg movie, set for release in 2020.
