GLL awarded West Oxfordshire leisure management contract
Charitable social enterprise Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) has been awarded a 10-year contract to run eight West Oxfordshire sports facilities following a competitive re-tender process.
The new deal begins on 1 August and will see GLL, which operates under the ‘Better’ brand, continue to manage Bartholomew Sports Centre in Eynsham, Carterton ATP, Carterton Leisure Centre, Carterton Pavilion, Chipping Norton Leisure Centre, Windrush Leisure Centre in Witney, Witney Artificial Turf Pitch and Woodstock Open Air Pool.
The partnership with West Oxfordshire District Council will focus on meeting the authority’s key priorities and service objectives, delivering high-quality leisure facilities and activities at affordable prices.
Investment will include a new four-court sports hall and indoor trampoline park at Carterton Leisure Centre, and extensions to the gyms and new health and fitness equipment for both Chipping Norton Leisure Centre and Windrush Leisure Centre.
Talented athletes across West Oxfordshire will be able to access funding from the GLL Sport Foundation, which aims to support and develop young sportsmen and women.
Mark Sesnan, GLL managing director, said: “We have successfully been running the district’s leisure facilities since 2011, so we have a good knowledge and understanding of the area, and are proud to be furthering our commitment to local residents, providing first class, affordable leisure and sporting facilities.”
Cllr Jeanette Baker, cabinet member for health, leisure and tourism, said: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of GLL as the operator of leisure facilities in West Oxfordshire for the next 10 years. This new contract brings a significant level of investment that will hugely benefit the local community.”
