Mandarin Oriental Boca Raton will be part of luxury Via Mizner development
Mandarin Oriental is to manage a new luxury hotel and branded residences in Boca Raton, Florida, US, currently under development by Penn-Florida Companies and scheduled to open in late 2017.
The hotel will include 158 bedrooms, a fitness centre, rooftop pool, and a spacious Spa at Mandarin Oriental, which will offer holistic rejuvenation and relaxation, though further details are still being determined.
“We will of course have a magnificent spa, but we are still working out the details,” said Jeremy McCarthy, Mandarin Oriental group director of spa.
The project comprises two adjacent towers located in downtown Boca Raton that form part of an upscale mixed-use development, Via Mizner, which will include 65,000sq ft (6,039sq m) of luxury lifestyle retail, as well as a private club offering social, fitness and golf amenities.
SB Architects, which has offices in Miami, San Francisco and Shenzhen, is working on the project.
“The design will reflect a sense of sophisticated, urban resort living that pays tribute to the Mediterranean-influenced architectural heritage of Addison Mizner, for which the city is particularly well-known,” said Scott Lee, president and principal of SB Architects.
Mark A. Gensheimer, president and CEO of Penn-Florida, said Via Mizner has been designed with intent to unite “expertly curated” residential, retail and entertainment components.
“The fusion of SB Architects’ modernist vision with the unrivalled service and legacy of Mandarin Oriental is a rare offering, unmatched in South Florida,” said Gensheimer.
Edouard Ettedgui, group chief executive of Mandarin Oriental, said the new Boca property "complements the award-winning Mandarin Oriental, Miami, and will provide a sophisticated and elegant retreat for guests and residents alike."
