Final £1.5m round of 2014 Commonwealth Games legacy fund announced
The final round of a Commonwealth Games legacy grants programme will see 34 Scottish community sports projects share £1.5m worth of funding.
The grants constitute the fifth and final allocation of the £10m Legacy 2014 Active Places Fund, which has benefitted 188 projects across all 32 of Scotland’s local authorities since its launch.
Stewart Harris, Chief Executive of sportscotland, said: “These 34 new awards are part of almost 200 projects to receive investment from the Legacy 2014 Active Places Fund, which is playing an important role in improving and creating excellent facilities all over the country.
“The £10m investment has helped deliver an impressive breadth of community, school, outdoors, and sports-based projects and is an integral component of the significant and positive legacy.”
A number of tennis courts, a climbing wall, a diving platform, and a primary school adventure play area are among the projects to receive a grant from the final round of funding (for the full list of projects, scroll down).
• The Legacy 2014 Active Places Fund is part of the Scottish Government’s Commonwealth Games Legacy 2014 programme, which will give communities across Scotland more and better places to be active, and is administered by sportscotland, the national agency for sport.
Grants up to £100,000 were available to help build or upgrade local facilities such as new bike or skate parks, outdoor adventure facilities, walking routes, or new projects within school estates.
