GLL to launch East London’s first trampoline park
Leisure operator GLL has announced it will open east London’s first ever indoor trampoline park this summer at Barking Sporthouse and Gym, as part of the site’s burgeoning range of services.
From April 2015, the Sporthouse will also hold London’s biggest indoor skate park, while a Vertical Playground – an indoor adventure play and climbing structure for all ages – is due to launch there in June.
The new indoor trampoline park will offer 2,150sq m (23,142sq ft) of safety-padded, interconnecting trampolines for non-stop freestyle trampoline workouts and play, with maximum capacity of 125. Air bag pits, football and rope swings will be available, as well as a number of fitness classes.
Offering the potential to burn up to 1,000 calories an hour through a low-impact workout while boosting skills such as agility and balance, trampoline parks have proved popular State-side and are beginning to take off in the UK, with outgoing ukactive CEO David Stalker set to launch a similar venture this summer. From an operational standpoint, the parks offer versatility as they can be used for a variety of group events, sports training sessions and children’s birthday parties.
“The new park is an exciting new project and the only offering of its kind in East London,” said GLL director of development Chris Symons.
“Our mission is to help get more people, more active, more often and trampoline play is a unique, safe way for everyone to have fun, while at the same time gaining significant health and fitness benefits.”
