Deep Nature to manage spas at three Starwood properties in New Caledonia

by Helen Andrews | 10 Oct 2014

French spa operation firm Deep Nature is set to manage three new spas at Starwood-operated properties in New Caledonia, in the Pacific Ocean.

The operator has revealed that it hopes to increase revenue at the spas by offering promotions that allow guests to use its spas at all three locations.

“The reason we have spas in these three locations, in close proximity, is so that we can market them together to increase revenue,” Julien Patty, owner of Deep Nature told Spa Opportunities. “For example, we may sell vouchers that allow visitors to redeem treatments at any of these Deep Nature Spas.”

The Sheraton New Caledonia Deva Resort & Spa Hotel features 180 guestrooms and is already welcoming guests, however the 730sq m (7,858sq ft) Deva Deep Nature Spa and the golf course are expected to open at the end of this year or early in 2015. The hotel is surrounded by the hills and plains of Deva’s protected area. It has direct access to 13km (8 miles) of coastline. The area’s reef and lagoon are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites.

This spa is set in the middle of a forest, made predominantly from wooden building materials. There are four individual treatment cabins and one couples’ suites on the top floor of the spa. On the floor below, there is a whirlpool, hammam, affusion shower, air-conditioned rest area, sauna and and a fitness room. There is also a relaxation area on the sundeck.

The 245-key Le Meridien Nouméa Hotel, 180km (112 miles) southeast of the Deva resort on the island of New Caledonia, will also feature a Deep Nature Spa. The hotel itself is undergoing renovation but remains open to guests. The spa’s opening is set to take place at the beginning of March 2015. Within the spa there is a hammam, sauna, an indoor whirlpool and a whirlpool on the sundeck. There are two individual treatment cabins, each of which is fitted with a private hot tub.

Situated in Oro Bay on the Ile des Pins, an island at the bottom of the Caledonian peninsula, the Le Meridien Ile des Pins hotel is a 49-guestroom property made up of bungalows, suites and a main building. The Deep Nature Spa at this hotel, located within a bungalow of its own, is expected to open at the end of 2014, comprising three treatment cabins – one of which is a double cabin. There also an outdoor hot tub. A small fitness room and a sauna are also under construction at this site.

Each Deep Nature Spa will feature products by Algotherm.

Julien Patty and Deep Nature’s managing director Ghislain Waeyaert recently told Spa Business about the company’s ambitious development strategy. They also revealed further information on the sustainability-focused eco-resort called The Brando, which opened in July of this year.
