RLSS launches new first aid qualification
The Royal LifeSaving Society UK (RLSS UK) and IQL have announced four additions to the RLSS UK qualifications portfolio, following a consultation with operators in the leisure sector.
The qualifications have been developed to cater for all first aid staff training needs, on- and off-poolside, while supporting the needs of the leisure industry and meeting the requirements of the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).
Tara Dillon, executive director at IQL, believes there are many staff in leisure centres and health clubs who could benefit from first aid training, such as receptionists, gym instructors and duty managers.
“Employees in these roles do not necessary need to complete a full NPLQ, but they could benefit from our standalone three-day, Level 3, First Aid at Work course,” said Dillon.
Existing RLSS UK Pool Lifeguard Trainer Assessors who meet the prerequisite requirements can apply to deliver the First Aid at Work qualification to other employees on site.
From October 2013, the RLSS UK and IQL UK will be one of 13 awarding organisations certified to deliver the Ofqual-accredited First Aid qualifications.
Qualifications include: combined NPLQ / First Aid at Work; Level 2 First Aid at Work (one day); Level 3 First Aid at Work (three day); and Level 3 First Aid at Work renewal (two day).
