Leisure schemes included among Scottish Design Award winners

Edinburgh's Royal Commonwealth Pool (RCP) - unveiled in March after receiving a £37m refurbishment, has been named among the winners at the Scottish Design Awards 2012.
The S&P Architects-designed overhaul involved stripping back the A-listed building's shell and rebuilding the facility. It was the winner of the Re-use of a Listed Building category.
S&P Architects worked with Buro Happold on the RCP scheme, which was also nominated in the Leisure/Culture Building and Public Building categories at this year's awards.
Heriot's Centre for Sport and Exercise (LDN Architects) and the Scottish National Portrait Gallery (PagePark Architects) both won the award for Leisure/Culture Building or Project.
Glasgow's Riverside Museum (Buro Happold) was awarded the 2012 prize for Engineering Design, while Edinburgh Zoo (442 Design) was the winner in the Interior Design category.
Nominees also included the National Museum of Scotland (Gareth Hoskins Architects) for Leisure/Culture Building or Project and Linlithgow Burgh Halls (Malcolm Fraser Architects) for Re-use of a listed Building.
