Newport stadium scheme moves forward
Newport Gwent Dragons has announced that work is to commence on the next stage of a multi-million pound renovation of the Rodney Parade stadium in Newport.
Work is due to begin on a new East Stand at the rugby union venue, which is set to boast seating for more than 2,000 supporters and 13 corporate boxes. Improved bar, hospitality and catering facilities are also proposed as part of the latest stage, which is due for completion by the end of August.
The construction of the new North Terrace to replace the current Family Stand is nearing completion, while the demolition of the Argus Terrace is to start on 12 January. Port Talbot-based Andrew Scott is leading the latest phase of the scheme, with Cardiff-based HLN Architects acting as project architect.
A new team gym facility and a 300-seat restaurant are also proposed.
