'Sustainable' visitor centre for Loch Ness

Glasgow-based Cameron Webster Architects (CWA) has unveiled its latest proposals for a new 'sustainable' visitor centre at Loch Ness, Scotland.
The £2.5m Jacobite Discovery Project is an extension of the Inverness-based Jacobite Cruises and will also include the development of a new harbour. Designed to feature a "fully sustainable set of green credentials", the visitor centre will be heated and cooled using water from Loch Ness.
CWA partner Robin Webster said: "There are many eco-friendly features within the development and the location of the Discovery Project lends itself excellently to these. "The architectural concept fits very carefully with the landscape and the natural features of the site."
Rod Michie, director of the Jacobite Discovery Project, added: "We are looking forward to having brand new facilities where visitors can really make the most of beautiful Loch Ness. "We want to create ever lasting memories for customers to take home, while still being kind to the environment."
The Highland Council is expected to determine the fate of plans within the coming weeks.
