Anytime Fitness reveals club redesign

Health club operator Anytime Fitness has revealed plans for a comprehensive refurbishment and redesign programme.

The company appointed New Jersey, US-based Fabiano Designs to come up with a new design scheme for all its clubs and will now embark on a revamp programme that includes all of it's 1,400 clubs.

Fabiano was tasked with coming up with a new corporate colour scheme as part of plans to give the clubs a "fresh, new look and feel".

At the core of the new design schemes, three walls are now required in each club.

An Inspiration Wall - A chalkboard paint or dry erase wall to be used by members in defining goals and/or noting achievement - will be located near the main entrance of each club, while a Logo Wall will display the "Anytime Fitness" logo and a shelving unit for retail sales.

There will also be a "Graphic Wall" facing the main workout area, displaying graphics and member information.

"The remodeling effort is the next evolution in our club style," said Chuck Runyon, co-founder and CEO of Anytime Fitness.

"It's also an example of how we're constantly striving to improve the member experience every way we can."

The traditional Anytime Fitness purple color will maintain a presence in clubs, but it will be complemented by what Runyon calls "softer and more natural" tones.

The gym floors at each club will also be re-organized to provide a more structured space, allowing key workout areas to be more visibly defined.

Anytime Fitness in Apple Valley, MN was the first club in the US to receive the facelift.

Vince Gibbs, franchisee owner of the club, claims that the changes have contributed towards an increase in revenue.

"The impact has been immediate. The new look has generated dozens of new members and renewals, and a 51 per cent increase in personal training revenue."

Founded in 2002, Anytime Fitness is in the midst of an expansion programme which will see it opening clubs in Latin America, the UK, Ireland, the Benelux countries, Poland, and the Middle East.

The first UK site opened in Bristol last week.
