Singapore Airlines partners with COMO for wellness cuisine
Singapore Airlines (SIA) has partnered with wellness brand COMO Shambhala to launch a menu of specially curated wellness dishes on selected SIA flights from September 2019. The wellness dishes are part of SIA and COMO Shambhala’s partnership aimed at enhancing customers’ holistic wellbeing and travel experience.
Dishes are tailored to nourish the body and alleviate travel-induced stresses such as fatigue, by combining ingredients rich in antioxidants and micronutrients, such as kiwi, yoghurt, beetroot and strawberries, in immune-boosting dishes. Others aim to promote good digestion and circulation for a more comfortable journey.
Offerings include spiced buckwheat and pumpkin pancakes for breakfast, coconut poached fish for dinner, and COMO Shambhala ginger tea for a welcome beverage.
First Class and Business Class customers will be able to enjoy the wellness in-flight menu on selected flights departing Singapore to Hong Kong, Frankfurt, London, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. The dishes will also be available for pre-ordering via ‘Book the Cook’ for First Class, Business Class and Premium Economy Class customers on all routes departing Singapore.
“We are excited to unveil the fruits of our partnership with COMO Shambhala, tapping on their award-winning expertise in holistic wellness and nutritious cuisine for our in-flight meals,” said Yeoh Phee Teik, Singapore Airlines senior vice president customer experience. “The introduction of these new wellness offerings underlines our commitment to the constant enhancement of our products and services to bring customers more enjoyable in-flight experiences.”
Daniel Moran, vice president culinary at the COMO Group added: “This has been a fascinating project for us and we have carefully curated a menu that reflects our COMO Shambhala brand ethos and approach to food - to inspire the palate with memorable flavours. We are certain that Singapore Airlines’ valued customers will enjoy this gastronomical wellbeing in the air.”
The introduction of co-developed dishes with COMO Shambhala joins SIA’s growing roster of wellness offerings that aim to enhance customers’ comfort and wellbeing. SIA continues to partner with US-based wellness expert Canyon Ranch for wellness initiatives on non-stop Singapore-US flights.
In addition to the wellness dishes, SIA’s partnership with COMO Shambhala includes wellness articles designed to help travellers learn and practice wellbeing, whether before, during or after the flight. The articles cover a range of topics such as meditation, breathing techniques for relaxation, and body exercises suitable for periods of prolonged inactivity. These will be launched concurrently with the co-developed wellness dishes from 1 September 2019, and will be available for download via the SIA mobile app.
