Shangri-La to debut Imperial-inspired resort in Shenyang

by Aoife Dowling | 26 Jun 2013

Hong Kong-based hotel group Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is preparing to debut a new five-star hotel in the historic city of Shenyang in mainland China.

Shangri-La Hotel, Shenyang will open along the city’s “Golden Corridor” on 1 August, in time to host sports guests during the 12th China National Sports Games being held there in September.

Located on Qingnian Avenue dubbed the “Golden Corridor” in Shenhe District, the hotel features 424 guestrooms, which start from 452sq ft (42 sq m).

The hotel’s contemporary wellness facilities include the groups signature CHI, The Spa, with nine large private spa suites, spa pools, saunas and steam baths as well as a 25m indoor swimming pool.

The fitness centre provides personal training in addition to group and individual exercise programmes.

The resort is inspired by the grandeur of Shenyang Imperial Palace, which is represented in many aspects of the property.

The top floor of the hotel is Shinsen, a specialty restaurant and bar. It features a sushi and sake bar, teppan private dining rooms and a rooftop terrace. Additional dining options include Café Liao serving an extensive selection of Asian and international cuisines using both local and imported produce.

The resorts Summer Palace serves Cantonese and Liaoning cuisine in a style that combines authentic taste with contemporary presentation. The main dining area houses 13 private dining rooms with garden views.

For meetings the hotel offers 4,026sq m (43,336sq ft) of space on two floors including a 1,900sq m (20,451sq ft) pillarless ballroom, a second 566 sq m (6,092sq ft) ballroom and seven function rooms.

Shangri-La Hotel, Shenyang will be the second hotel managed by Shangri-La in the city, joining Traders Hotel, Shenyang.
